Legacy of Mana Setting Guide

Legacy of Mana is a 5E-compatible setting guide produced by Lynnvander Studios for the their world of Imaria. This forms the setting for most of the Dungeons and Dragons live play content they produce on the Youtube channel Six Sides of Gaming.

My role in the project was to create a look and feel for the presentation of the world (though characters and environments were art directed by Thomas Gofton) and wrangle the layout of all sections of the book; some 280+ pages. Since the setting guide is compatible with fifth edition 2012 and players would therefore have or be familiar with those Dungeons & Dragons books, we chose to begin with their existing look and feel and morph it to better suit the world of Imaria. Much of this setting deals with dimensions and planes of existence, so I developed a “shattered glass as viewing pane” aesthetic for all of our environment artwork. This allowed the awesome character artwork of Ryan Valle and Mike Gauss to appear as if they burst from the page.
